Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Wasilla resident Lori Lee Allen Gonzales, 42, passed away in Fairbanks on June 1, 2004, after battling a long illness.
Mrs. Gonzales was born July 29, 1961, in Anchorage, to Robert O. Sr. and Kitty E. Allen. She was raised in Anchorage and attended Service High School. She then moved to Wasilla where she raised her two sons.
Her family said, "Everyone who knew Lori said she lived life to the fullest. Her true passion was the love of her sons and family. She enjoyed playing with her grandson, Cody, most of all. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but most especially by her son, Andre."
She was preceded in death by her son, Michael D. Peterson Jr.; father, Robert O. Allen Sr.; and brother, Clinton G. Allen.
She is survived by her son, Andre LaFrance, of Wasilla; mother, Kitty E. Allen, of Fairbanks; grandson, Cody James Peterson, of Anchorage; and brother, Robert O. Allen Jr., of Arctic Village; and many cousins throughout the state.
Visitation was held from noon to 1 p.m., June 4, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church in Fairbanks. A funeral service began at 1 p.m. The Rev. Scott Fisher officiated.
A potlatch was held at 6 p.m. June 4, at the David Salmon Tribal Hall.
Visitation will be held from 2-4 p.m. tomorrow at Valley Harvest Church on the Palmer-Wasilla Highway in Palmer. A funeral service will begin at 4 p.m. She will be laid to rest in Palmer.
Arrangements were made by Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home in Fairbanks.
