LORRAINE W. GLASER

Wasilla resident Lorraine W. Glaser, 86, died of natural causes Sept. 12, 2005, at Knik Manor Assisted Living Home. In honor of her request, no public services will be held.

Her ashes will be interred next to her husband at Evergreen-Washelli Memorial Park in Seattle.

Mrs. Glaser was born Feb. 3, 1919, in Leonard, N.D. She lived in the towns of Leonard, Fargo and LaMoure N.D., until 1962 when she and her husband moved to Seattle. While living in Seattle, she worked as a cook for Clark's Restaurant and was also cook and manager for Bartel's Lunch Counter until her retirement in 1981.

Mrs. Glaser was a member of the Hotel and Restaurant Employees Union, Local #8. In 1997, she moved to Alaska to be closer to her family. She enjoyed baking, gardening and spending time with her great-grandchildren.

Her family wrote, "She enjoyed cooking and baking goodies for all her family and neighbors. She was an avid gardener with a green thumb. She could make a rose grow anywhere.

"She loved children. Spending time with her great-grandson, Shawn-Michael, brought her a lot of joy over the last four years. They had a very special bond.

"She was a feisty and incredibly strong person and will be missed dearly."

Her husband, Wilfred (Bill) Glaser; children, Charlotte Charles and Virgil and Charles Glaser and siblings, Victor, Stella, Evelyn and Florence (Zaske) Zick preceded her in death.

Mrs. Glaser is survived by her son, LeRoy Glaser of Grafton, N.D.; daughter, Carolyn (Connie) Mahoney of Big Lake; granddaughters, Maureen Graham and husband, Troy, and family of Houston, Donna Van Asdoll and husband, Kelly, and family of Wasilla, Kriste Charles and family of Wasilla and Shannon Davenport and family of Seward; 10 great-grandchildren; her adopted family, the Pollards, of Washington state, and her extended family at Knik Manor Assisted Living Home in Wasilla.

Arrangements were with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
