OBIT Poisal 12-29

Lottie was born on a farm in south Missouri near Van Buren on Dec. 5, 1913. Lottie and her husband Clyde moved from Missouri to Alaska in 1951 and carved a homestead out of the trees north of Wasilla. At the time, only a handful of other homesteaders existed in the area. The effort was difficult, but she faced it with a true Alaskan pioneer spirit.

Lottie was a long time member of the Homemakers Club, whose mission is to strengthen individuals, families, and communities in Alaska through continuing education, developing leadership, and community action. Lottie shaped her home and community through caring, sharing, and learning, so her membership in this organization has allowed her to mentor and inspire others to help carry the mission forward.

As a member of the Quilters Guild, Lottie has produced copious numbers of quilts. She has received special recognition from the Court Appointed Special Advocates program for being one of their longest contributing donors, providing beautifully quilted blankets for their annual silent auction. Many Alaskans have been blessed and comforted via one of Lottie's love-stitched quilts.

She has also been a long-standing member of the Wasilla Presbyterian Church, joining in the start-up days and watching it, along with the Mat-Su Valley, grow and change. Lottie also has experienced the milestones of Alaska history such as the 1964 earthquake, which the Poisal cabin surprisingly survived unscathed.

Lottie was preceded in death by her husband Clyde Poisal and her son Vadney Bledsoe. She is survived by two daughters, Verdine McNeely, Susan and Susan's husband Willie Jones, numerous grandchildren and great-grand children. She went to be with the Lord Jesus on Christmas Day, the year of our Lord, 2017.
