Louis (Tim) Joseph Geiermann

Born 01/08/34 and known as “Tim” for most of his life. Tim attended schools in Detroit. After college, Tim joined the U.S. Navy, serving on the USS Trout. He moved to AK in 1956, working as a Gandy Dancer with the AK Railroad. Tim met and married Marilee Johnson in 1959, homesteading on Lake Marilee and had six children. As a general contractor, Tim worked relocating buildings in southcentral Alaska, as well as building Catholic churches for the Archdiocese of Anchorage in Big Lake, Valdez, Cordova and other Alaskan communities. He built many houses in Anchorage with his business ‘Beluga Builders’ and owned Dimond Building Supply. Tim began prospecting in the ‘70’s and was a successful gold miner in remote areas of AK. He met and married Hilda Quarles in 1979. They moved to California where he worked in the utility business, but Tim returned to AK most summers up to the age of 85, looking for gold. Tim loved golfing, the History Channel and was known for his outspoken political views. Tim died 10/12/22 at home, of complications following a stroke, with his wife and family at his side. His son said “His body was worn out by old age; he needed his wings”. Tim’s unique personality, get up and go and fun attitude will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He is survived by wife, Hilda Geiermann of Calif; sister, Joan Schneider (MI); son, Timothy (Voni); daughters, Meg, Kimberly (Mike), Kathleen (Tom), Melissa (Todd), Mary and Jade (Al); and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Services will be Nov. 4th at 12pm at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, Big Lake, AK. All are welcome. After Mass there will be a chance to share favorite Tim stories.
