“Good fences make good neighbors,” so wrote the great poet of the 20th century, Jack Frost.
It’s fitting because here in my new hometown of Palmer, I have found that all of my neighbors are very respectful and kind.
I come from New Zealand and my name is Rex Harigon. Every neighbor of mine makes conversation and remembers my name. I settled here in Palmer because most of my family recently moved here and I have specific work skills suited for the local area’s needs.
My mother always bragged about how the area is so welcoming to new people and that once you settle in you never want to leave. After just two weeks and a day I feel as if this is where I belong. So thanks to my fellow residents of Palmer, Alaska, live strong and live free.
To close I would like to once again quote my favorite poet: “People are the same as animals, but the only difference being we don’t eat each other.”
Thank you, great City of Palmer.
