Big Lake resident Lowell Lyle Hahn, 66, died of cancer at his home April 17, 2005. In honor of his request, no services will be held. A celebration of life in Big Lake will be held at a later date.

Mr. Hahn was born in Osakis, Minn., on Jan. 1, 1939. He served in the Air Force and was stationed in Texas from 1956 to 1958.

He moved to Anchorage in 1975, where he worked for Alaska Sales and Service for one year before opening and operating Colorite Custom Autobody & Motorcycle until 1994. In 1995, he moved to Big Lake to begin another business, Lakeside Body & Paint, until retiring in 2003.

He was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed custom cars, motorcycles and camping trips. He won many trophies and awards over the years from various car shows.

His family wrote, "Lowell was a well-known custom auto and motorcycle refinisher. He loved Big Lake and enjoyed remodeling his home and landscaping

his gardens. He had mastered the art of growing

tomatoes outdoors.

"He lived life to the fullest, with a quirky sense of humor known as Lowellisms. He collected many friends and admirers. He appreciated the Alaskan outdoors, gathering with friends for camping trips, party-barging around Stephan Lake, barbeques, the Super Bowl, NASCAR, poker, motocross and playing pool at Robin's. We will remember his personality, strength, wisdom, creativity and imagination."

His friends said, "We will remember our mayor."

His father, Lyle P. Hahn, and grandparents, Palmer and Lily Olson, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his mother, LaRonne Burnatchicz of Denver; sisters, Margorie Beecher of Dalhart, Texas, and Sherry Nicole of Denver; brother, Kerry Henningsgard of Denver; daughters, Tyla Hahn of Oregon and Lesley Long of Henderson, Nev.; son, Ty Lynn Hahn of Oregon, and stepfather, Lawrence Henningsgard of Hood River, Ore.
