LOYAL DOUGLAS BROWN

Wasilla Resident, Mr. Loyal Douglas Brown, 60, died at his home June 30 from cancer as a result of exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July at Matanuska Assembly of God Church, 12801 W. Arctic Avenue in Palmer.

Pastor Randy Bjerken will officiate. Military Honors and Commitment will be at 3 p.m. at Ft. Richardson National Cemetery.

Mr. Brown was born July 26, 1942 in Milligan, Fla.

He served in the United States Army and the United States Coast Guard from 1973 to 1992, when he retired.

He became a resident of Alaska in October of 1988.

Mr. Brown's family remembers: "Loyal Brown was an active member of the Veteran community. Through his dedication and service to his nation across the decades we have all been enriched. Loyalâs tradition of service and honor will remain an inspiration to us all."

Mr. Brown is survived by his wife, Ludie; children, J. Douglas Brown, James Brown, Rebecca Marhenke, Ruth Chadwell, Jonathon Brown and Joshua Brown; grandchildren, Rachel Brown, Nathalya Marhenke, Jeremia, Justin and Reagan Chadwell; sisters, Alice Sikes and Dot Bozeman; brother, Rhett Brown and a large extended family.

Memorial donations may be made to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaque Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, Attn: Vietnam Veterans Memorial Plaque Fund, Courthouse Plaza 2, Suite 500, 2300 Clarendan Blvd., Arlington, Virginia 22201.

Arrangements are with Valley Funeral Home & Crematory in Wasilla.
