She was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Billstein, Germany, trained and worked as a nurse, and married during the chaos of World War II. She worked as a nurse's aid at Valley Hospital until her retirement in 1978.
She was a passionate gardener. Her house and garden were always full of flowers. Her home was open to family and friends alike, who could always count on her wonderful home cooking and hospitality. She also enjoyed traveling and made a number of trips back to Germany. Her grandchildren got her constant attention.
She was preceded in death by her husband Bernhard. She is survived by her daughter Christine Cox of Palmer; son Klaus Jade, M.D. of Olympia, Wash,; five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Her family said, "She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and whose life she touched."
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home. No memorial service is scheduled at this time.
In accordance with her wishes, her ashes will be scattered over the Talkeetna Mountains.
