Long-time Wasilla resident Lydia Alice Mina McCarthy died Aug. 20, 2002, at LV's Home Care in Wasilla.
A graveside service was held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 2 p.m. by Pastor Stan Tucker at Wasilla Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla.
Mrs. McCarthy was born in Clayton, Kansas on April 9, 1931, to Vera and Charlie Wiltfong. She married Ray McCarthy in Rockford, Md., in 1951, and they moved to Adak in 1970. They later relocated to the Mat-Su in 1973 where she operated a ceramics shop until 1990.
She enjoyed traveling by automobile and playing pinochle with the Turpin Club in Anchorage.
Mrs. McCarthy will be dearly missed by her many long-time friends.
She is survived by Ray McCarthy, her husband of 51 years; sons, Dennis McCubbin of Portland, Ore.; Douglas McCubbin, of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Gayla McCarthy, of Waimea, Hawaii; grandson, Raymond T. McCubbin of Anchorage; and foster grandchildren, Catherine and Travis Steward of Wasilla.
Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home.
