Congratulations to Colony High School senior Lyle Swallows and junior Samantha Everett, this week’s Mat-Su Borough School District Students of the Week.
Cadet Lt. Col. Swallows is a senior at Colony with plans for a career in the U.S. Marines. Cadet Lt. Col. Everett is a junior and assumed battalion command of the JRTOC at Colony High School for next year. Everett plans to visit and apply to all three military academies this summer.
“Lyle has approached his command with great dedication and a sense of humor,” CHS Principal Cyd Duffin said. “We could always count on Lyle to put JROTC first and not allow other responsibilities to interfere with his role. Sam is a bright and effective student leader and will approach her new position with maturity and grace. She is very smart and ethical — characteristics that are essential for outstanding leadership. I’m really proud of our entire JROTC program for the leadership and citizenship it instills in our kids. They are an integral part of our high school and help define the Colony Knight character!”
Superintendent Deena Paramo and the entire Mat-Su Borough School District honor Swallows and Everett as this week’s MSBSD Students of the Week.
