Lynx edge Knights in OT

ANCHORAGE — Dimond’s Dylan Afusia hauled in a 7-yard Dwayne Carter touchdown pass to lead the Lynx to an 18-12 overtime win over Colony at Dimond Alumni Field on Saturday night.

The overtime score gave Dimond its first win since the 2008 season and spoiled the coaching debut of first-year Colony mentor Brian McIntosh.

Dimond led 12-2, but Colony tied the game with a pair of scores in the final two quarters. Fullback Dakota Wainwright pushed into the end zone from 1 yard out and senior kicker Conner Weihs booted a 25-yard field goal.

Senior Skye Rench topped the 100-yard mark for a Knights team that rushed for nearly 200 in the first half.

Colony will continue with nonconfernece action this week. The Knights host West Anchorage Friday at 7 p.m. at Colony High School.
