Four–time Iditarod champion Lance Mackey has withdrawn from the 2017 race due to “health reasons,” according to an Iditarod Trail Committee Facebook post Monday morning.

Mackey, a four-time winner of the Yukon Quest as well as the winner of four straight Iditarod titles from 2007 to 2010, officially scratched from the 2016 Iditarod at the Galena checkpoint, citing health concerns at that time.

He was inducted into the Mushers’ Hall of Fame in 2015.
