Magner leads Knights

Rhett Magner led the Colony Knights to a 21-0 nonconference win over the Soldotna Stars on the Kenai Peninsula Friday.

Magner factored into each of the Knights three touchdowns. The senior quarterback connected with wide receiver Justin Schwartzbauer twice, and plunged into the end zone from a a yard out.

With a 7-0 lead, Magner tossed a 20-yard score to Schwartzbauer in the second quarter.

The duo connected on a 13-yard strike in the fourth quarter.

Magner led the Knights on the ground with 50 yards rushing and completed 10 of 15 attempts for 139 yards passing.

Wasilla 13, Kodiak 6

Zack Bennett tossed a pair of touchdown strikes and the Wasilla Warriors earned a difficult 13-6 nonconference win at Kodiak on Saturday.

Bennett, in his first start at quarterback, found Kyle Cowgill and Arlin Welch in the end zone.

The Warrior defense picked off three interceptions in the win. Robbie Champion, Jeff Champion and Levi Fox each registered interceptions.

Wasilla earned the win, despite a difficult weekend of travel. The squad bussed to Homer on Friday, boarded the ferry and arrived in Kodiak just hours before game time.
