ALPAR litter crew spent their summer May 2014 to August 8 Helping to beautify their city of Wasilla By picking up litter for 5 hours each rain or shine, (more rain then shine) :-) I can't measure how much garbage they picked up, (almost a full bed truck everyday) but alone the aluminum cans they recycled was 249 pounds. They braved cold & hot weather and went through a bottle of mosquito repellent each week. That crew did get paid through a grant with the city, but also gave up most of their summer days (getting up early-day started at 7 a.m.) The crew pictured - Roger Ryall, Diann Ryall, Cameron Buck, Emily Levesque and Nathan Erdmann. Thank you for giving them a little bit of attention for their time and efforts. For more information, contact Lynn Follett, Parks and Recreation Supervisor, at 354-0839. Courtesy Paula Murphy

The City of Wasilla’s 2014 ALPAR litter crew spent its summer — starting in May and ending August 8 — helping to beautify their city by picking up litter for 5 hours each day. The city can’t estimate how much garbage the crew picked up but says that the aluminum cans they recycled weighed 249 pounds. The city also notes that the crew went through a bottle of mosquito repellent each week. Pictured here are crew members Roger Ryall, Diann Ryall, Cameron Buck, Emily Levesque and Nathan Erdmann.
