PALMER -- A 28-year-old Palmer man was arrested on three assault charges after allegedly threatening to kill two neighbors and scuffling with his pregnant wife.
Todd Weekly was taken into custody Nov. 23 by Palmer police. He was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on three counts of fourth-degree assault and one count of interfering with a domestic violence report.
Police were summoned to Weekly's home on Helen Drive after a 911 call was made shortly before 9 p.m. on Nov. 23. Prior to that, neighbors immediately adjacent to the Weekly house called emergency dispatch to report a verbal domestic dispute involving Weekly, according to charging documents.
Palmer police officer Kelly Turney said in an affidavit that Weekly refused to open the door, then locked the door and turned off the lights. Police forced the door open to ensure the safety of Weekly's wife, Turney said.
The woman told police she had tried to leave the house after an argument but Weekly grabbed her by the arm and pulled her away from the door, Turney said. The woman told police she was afraid of her husband because she is five months pregnant, according to the affidavit.
An Alaska State Trooper interviewed two neighbors, who also are landlords of the house where Weekly lives. They said Weekly confronted them face to face, saying, "I am going to kill you and then I am going to kill you," the affidavit said.
They feared for their safety, Turney said, because they knew Weekly has a rifle and a black powder gun, and that he is a good shot.
