WASILLA — An assault with a tire iron sent one man to jail and another to the hospital Sunday.
According to a press release from Alaska State Troopers, the incident was initially reported as a disturbance on Pintail Drive at 4:35 p.m. Pintail is in the subdivision near the corner of Seldon and Schrock roads, north of Wasilla.
Troopers believe Jayson Featherstone, 19, of Wasilla, assaulted “a male and a female” at the house with a tire iron, then left the scene.
The male — unidentified in trooper reports, as is usually the case with domestic violence victims — was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, treated and released.
Featherstone was found two hours later at a traffic stop and arrested for alleged assault. He was jailed on $10,000 bail at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Jail records Monday showed he was still in custody.
WASILLA — Rollover accidents aren’t exactly uncommon in the Valley, but rollovers in a parking lot are.
A sport utility vehicle flipped over in Rumrunner’s Bar parking lot last week and the woman behind the wheel was arrested for drunken driving.
According to a press release from Alaska State Troopers, the wreck was reported at 5:07 a.m., May 6.
“Fawn M. Petross, 29, of Wasilla, had been leaving the bar in her 1995 Nissan Pathfinder when she lost control of the vehicle, it went up an embankment and rolled over onto its side,” according to the press release.
Petross was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for evaluation and released. Troopers then arrested her for DUI and jailed her at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $500 bail. Jail records Monday morning showed she had since made bail.
No one else was hurt in the crash. Petross couldn’t say whether she was wearing a seat belt. Troopers estimate damage to the Nissan at $3,500.
