EUREKA — A man faces kidnapping charges after Alaska State Troopers allege he assaulted and tied up a person during an argument.
According to an AST statement, at 2:10 a.m., Thursday, dispatchers received a call from the victim who identified the person committing the assault as Larry Kirkwood, 63, of Eureka.
“The caller had been tied up following the assault, but was able to free one hand and reach a cellphone to call 911,” according to the press statement.
Troopers drove there from Palmer and Glennallen. The victim was able to get free of the restraints and leave the house. Troopers then made contact with Kirkwood, who came to the door unarmed and gave up.
Troopers report he was intoxicated and in possession of a gun. He’s being charged with kidnapping, assault involving domestic violence, weapons misconduct and violating the conditions of his release from a prior case.
Kirkwood was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Jail records Thursday afternoon showed he was still there.
