WILLOW — Smashing his truck into another truck that then crashing through a garage door, assaulting a person inside the home and driving off drunk landed a Wasilla man in jail Wednesday.
According to an Alaska State Troopers press statement, Barry J. Cupps, 41, came to their attention shortly after 2 a.m., Wednesday at a home on Bading Lane off of Willow-Fishhook Road.
“(Cups) had used his truck to shove another truck through the front of a residence, destroying the garage doors and a main support beam,” according to the press release.
Troopers say he assaulted a person inside the house and caused “a risk of serious physical injury” by destroying that beam. Troopers estimate damage to the home and vehicle at $10,000.
Cupps was found later at a home on Leora Drive in Meadow Lakes. He was arrested for criminal mischief, assault, reckless endangerment and drunken driving, and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility. Jail records Saturday afternoon showed he was still incarcerated.
