WASILLA — An Anchorage man on probation was busted with what Alaska State Troopers say were $10,000 worth of illegal drugs early Wednesday morning near Houston.

According to an online trooper dispatch, troopers were called to a report of gunshots and suspicious activity near mile 50 of the Parks Highway. While searching the area, troopers located a vehicle driven by Rosing Boungnavath, 35. Boungnavath was found to be on probation for second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. At the request of probation officers, troopers searched the vehicle and allegedly found heroin, psilocybin mushrooms, oxycodone, five baggies of various prescription pills and “a significant quantity of cash.”

Troopers said the combined value of the drugs if sold illegally would have been $10,000.

Boungnavath was arrested and taken to Mat-Su Pretrial Facility on five felony drug charges, including two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, one count of third-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance, and two counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. He was held on $2,500 bail.
