PALMER — After, by his own account, he “slapped the (expletive) out of” his dad’s girlfriend, a 39-year-old Big Lake man was charged with physical and sexual assault.
Jerry Inga was arrested May 6.
In an affidavit Sgt. Michelyn Manrique with the Alaska State Troopers filed in court, the sergeant writes that the initial call about the assault came in at 10:15 p.m. from a neighbor of Inga’s stepfather. On scene, Manrique first talked to the woman, who’d run barefoot and covered in blood to the neighbor’s house.
“There was blood coming from a cut on top of (her) nose,” Manrique wrote. “(She) was crying and had an odor of alcohol about her.”
The woman said she was staying with Inga’s stepfather and that her boyfriend had left. Inga found $10 while cleaning up the house and they walked to a store and bought alcohol and brought it back to the house.
“Inga asked her to have sex with him and she told him ‘no,’” Manrique says in the affidavit. “The next thing that she remembers is Inga on top of her punching her in the face.”
Numerous punches followed, and she fought back because she “thought she was going to die,” the trooper wrote. She finally scratched and bit him and managed to get free, whereupon she ran from the house, screaming for help and running down the road.
“Inga chased her to halfway to the neighbor’s residence,” Manrique wrote.
The neighbor took her in, though she’d never met the woman before.
Manrique didn’t find Inga at his stepfather’s house, but did find him walking south on the Parks Highway at around Mile 47.5 shortly before 2:30 a.m., the next day. He told her he’d been visiting his stepfather and that he didn’t know the woman, though later he said he did.
“Inga said when he got back to the residence (the woman) attacked and hit him with her hand. Inga said he got angry and ‘slapped the (expletive) out of her,’” Manrique wrote. “Inga said he was angry. He said he has a long history of assault, ‘like 15 or 16 years worth.’”
The woman was treated at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for a nose broken in two places.
Inga was jailed on charges of assault and second-degree sexual assault.
Court records show a misdemeanor assault conviction from 2008 and a number of other cases dating back to the late 1990s. His most recent conviction was on a shoplifting charge earlier this year.
Jail records Friday afternoon showed that Inga was still in custody.
