PALMER -- What started as a night of entertainment at a local lounge ended up as a series of mistakes for a 20-year-old Wasilla man.
Jeremy Hildebrand's woes began when Alaska State Troopers responded to the Borealis Beach Club on Parks Highway to investigate a report of an underage drinker. Hildebrand was taken into custody, troopers said, and further investigation revealed he had tried to pick fights with some other patrons earlier in the evening.
At that point, troopers said in a press release, he had racked up charges of disorderly conduct and minor consuming alcohol.
However, Hildebrand "became combative" toward correctional officers while being booked into Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility in Palmer, troopers said.
He was placed in a holding cell with another inmate to cool off, according to the press release, but Hildebrand assaulted the inmate.
"In attempt to subdue Hildebrand, Hildebrand assaulted a correctional officer," the press release stated. "Hildebrand was finally subdued and placed in a restraining device."
It cost him additional charges of second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault and disorderly conduct, troopers said.
The inmate allegedly assaulted was treated at Valley Hospital for undisclosed injuries.
Hildebrand, then 14, was charged in January 1998 with minor consuming alcohol. However, the charge was dismissed the following month.
He also has a previous charge of driving without an operator's license. That, too, was dismissed.
