A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon in Wasilla.

Alaska State Troopers identified the deceased as Matthew Fox, 40, of Wasilla.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and the Alaska State Troopers Statewide Drug Enforcement Unit were attempting to serve a high-risk warrant, and Fox attempted to flee officers, according to an online dispatch published by AST. Authorities were able to use their vehicles to block and pin the subject’s vehicle.

“The man refused to comply with officers and actively resisted arrest. The man made threatening statements against officers on scene and reached for a firearm,” according to troopers. “Law enforcement personnel fired their services weapons, striking the man.”

Fox died at the scene, troopers said.
