WASILLA — A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting in Wasilla Thursday morning.
The Wasilla Police Department responded to a domestic violence incident at about 4:30 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release issued by the department.
“A female reported that her husband made threats to kill anyone in the house,” according to the release.
The suspect was armed and assaulting a family member. The male refused to come out of the house when officers arrived and a disturbance ensued shortly after. Officers confronted the armed suspect, who had stabbed his wife, according to the report.
“Officers fired on the subject and he did not survive his injuries,” according to the report.
Children were out of harm’s way on the floor below and the stabbing victim was taken to the hospital.
Identities are not being released until the next of kin can be notified. The officers involved will not be on duty for 72 hours, as per department policy.
