MEADOW LAKES -- A combination of alcohol and reckless driving is being blamed for the death of 53-year-old Gary Kraus of Wasilla, who was found dead near the intersection of Pittman Road and the Parks Highway Friday evening.
Troopers responded to an accident report at 7:30 p.m. Friday stating that a car had run off the road at Mile .2 of Pittman Road. An investigation conducted at the scene revealed that Kraus was traveling southbound on Pittman toward the Parks Highway when his car swerved off the road and rolled down a steep incline. The vehicle came to a rest upside down.
Kraus was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel, who also reported that he was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident. The vehicle was estimated to be totaled.
Kraus' next of kin was notified shortly after the incident.
