GLACIER VIEW — A man riding alone near Mile 100, Glenn Highway died Monday when his ATV rolled on top of him.
According to an Alaska State Trooper press statement, William Beaty, 63, was riding on Pinochle Trail when his ATV rolled, pinning him underneath.
Troopers say his family requested an autopsy and that they are investigating the crash.
According to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, the Pinochle Trail is an old gold mining trail, part of a network of trails in the area. It runs 10 miles, north to south, following Hicks Creek, passing Hicks Lake and ending at a connection with the east-west Caribou Creek Trial.
