WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say a fight on a balcony led to a 10-foot plunge that killed a local man Sunday afternoon.
According to a trooper press statement, Clyde Bozarth, 58, of Wasilla, was fighting with another man on a balcony on Via Tranquilla Drive. Troopers were called to the scene at shortly before 3:30 p.m.
Troopers say that during the fight, a railing on the balcony broke, allowing Bozarth to plunge onto the pavement below. He landed on his head.
“It was over a dog. A dog that was making some noise,” Alaska State Trooper Investigator Curtis Vik said of the fight.
Asked whether Bozarth lived in the home where the fight occurred, Vik said he couldn’t answer that question.
Asked whether the scuffle was a fist fight or a beating and whether Bozarth’s death was accidental or intentional, Vik said that right now troopers are investigating the whole picture of the fight and the death.
He said that once they’re done, they will send the findings to the Palmer District Attorney who, in turn, will determine whether to charge the other participant in the fight with a crime.
“If they don’t, that’ll be the end of it,” Vik said.
Troopers didn’t release the name of the other man involved.
