HOUSTON -- A Houston man was killed and another was sent to intensive care after their snowmachines collided Friday evening, Houston Police reported.
Philip Greenlee, 45, was heading south on a snowmachine trail next to Kenlar Road when he came around a corner and collided with James Palmer, 42, who was driving his snowmachine north on the same trail.
Greenlee was pronounced dead at the scene and Palmer was taken to Providence Alaska Medical Center
via helicopter, where he
was listed in critical condition Sunday.
The two men were leading their respective groups of snowmachiners down a
well-beaten snowmachine trail Friday about 5:30 p.m., police said. Two other
snowmachiners were behind Greenlee and one was behind Palmer; they called police after coming up on
the collision.
No charges have been filed at this time but an
investigation is ongoing.
The state medical
examiner's office has
been notified,as well as next of kin.
