The body of a man was recovered after a boating accident on Finger Lake Saturday night.

The deceased was identified as Devon Betker, 23. Betker’s body was recovered about 8:30 p.m., Saturday according to the Alaska State Troopers.

Troopers received a report just after 7 p.m. Saturday that an occupant of a canoe was missing, and presumed drowned in Finger Lake. Betker was one of three adult males in the canoe traveling to an island in the lake when the canoe capsized in about 20 feet of water, troopers said.

“he two males who were paddling were able to cling onto the overturned canoe until another boat stopped to pick them up,” troopers said.

Troopers, Mat-Su Borough Emergency Services and Mat-Su Borough Water Rescue responded.
