Man indicted for felony drug sales

PALMER -- A Palmer grand jury has indicted a 47-year-old man for selling controlled substances Oxycodone and Hydrocodone to an undercover officer.

Rodney Price was named in the indictments handed down Feb. 11. Each of the two counts of second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance is punishable by 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000.

Price allegedly sold two Oxycodone pills and two Hydrocodone pills for a total of $20 to an officer outside Wasilla Bar on April 4, 2002, according to charging documents. Wasilla police officer Angela Long said in an affidavit she watched the transaction from a seat at the bar.

On April 26, 2002, Price sold the undercover agent 15 Hydrocodone pills for $90, charging documents said. Again, other officers watched the transaction, documents said.

On May 28, 2002, Price sold an officer five Vioxx tablets and 16 Flexeril tablets for $50, Long's affidavit said, adding the drugs require a prescription.

"During the transaction the defendant talked about the strength of the pills and how to take them," the affidavit said. "The defendant said he also had some sleeping pills at home he would just give to [the officer].

"The defendant told [the officer] he didn't have any Oxycodone or Hydrocodone now but would have some once he got his prescription. The defendant also said he would be getting an 'eight-ball of powder' cocaine this weekend and would have a gram for [the officer]."

Some of the conversations were tape recorded, charging documents said.
