Man jailed after trying to break chain

WASILLA — In the course of what has to have been one heck of a bad day, a Wasilla man was arrested after Alaska State Troopers sent to investigate his attempts to break a chain across a driveway found he was breaking two different laws and arrested him.

According to an AST press statement, at 6:01 p.m., Dec. 1, troopers were called to a driveway off of Vine Road where a Chevy pickup was trying to break a chain.

“Investigation revealed the driver, Miles A. Vanorman, age 55, of Wasilla, had lost his key to the lock on the chain blocking the driveway. Vanorman was found to be driving while his license was revoked and possessed alcohol in violation of his conditions of probation,” troopers report. He was charged with driving on a revoked license and violating probation and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with his bail withheld pending his arraignment. As of Monday afternoon, he’d made bail and been released.
