KNIK — One of three men charged in Anchorage for a violent home invasion robbery was apparently hiding in the Valley.
According to an Alaska State Trooper press statement, troopers and probation officers found Ath Chhay, 22, on Ella Mae Road, in the Knik area, at 8:35 p.m. Thursday.
Anchorage police announced Thursday they were looking for Chhay. He was the only one of the three suspects who was still at large.
According to Anchorage police, Chhay, Lanolan Anderson, 35, and Jack Espinoza, 28, burst into a home on West Dimond Boulevard on May 4. They hit the homeowner with a pistol, which discharged. The homeowner's brother and girlfriend were shot before the robbers fled. Everyone survived the attack.
Espinoza, police say, had already been arrested for a February shooting in a Boniface Parkway mobile home park. The victim in that case identified him as the shooter.
Chhay was jailed on $50,000 bail at the Anchorage Jail and will need to find a third-party to watch over him before he can be released. Jail records Friday morning showed he was still incarcerated.
