WASILLA — The traffic signal at Bogard Road and Seward Meriian Parkway should be back up and running this week after an accident damaged a supporting pole and forced the removal of the light.
A traffic accident took out one pole and a guardrail on Saturday, according to a state Department of Transportation report.
“We’ll probably have it up tomorrow if we can get the parts,” DOT foreman Neal Henslee said Monday.
According to an Alaska State Troopers report, Charles P. Sprague, 25, of Wasilla was heading through the intersection from Seward Meridian when he rolled the 2000 Toyota 4-Runner he was driving, taking out the pole and totaling the Toyota.
Sprague was transported to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center for evaluation, troopers report. When he was discharged, Sprague was booked into the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on charges of reckless driving, driving on a revoked license and violating the conditions of his release.
According to troopers, at the time of the accident Sprague was under house arrest on charges of reckless driving and had been ordered not to drive.
Sprague is being held on $2,000 bail. Jail records Monday afternoon showed he was still in jail.
