A man is dead following a shooting in the Wasilla area Wednesday evening.
Alaska State Troopers responded to the Fairview Loop area and found Nelson Reece, 52, of Wasilla, with a gunshot wound. Life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, troopers said, and Reece was declared dead at the scene. Troopers received multiple 911 calls just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.
According to troopers, the preliminary investigation revealed that Seth Shacklett, 35, of Wasilla, had shot Reece after a disagreement while standing in a driveway of a house in the area.
“During the disagreement, Shacklett shot Reece with a rifle,” troopers said.
Troopers also said Shacklett was on conditions of release for an unrelated case that include restriction of possession of firearms.
