MAT-SU - A 52-year-old Talkeetna woman shot and killed her 51-year-old husband at home on Friday, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Kathleen and Gary Colbert were fighting that evening, a trooper press release said.
Both of them had been drinking alcohol, trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said Saturday.
Wilkinson said troopers had been called out to the home on Talkeetna Spur Road for domestic-violence issues before.
When Kathleen tried to call 911 to report that her husband had assaulted her, he took the phone away from her, the trooper release said.
"Kathleen then retrieved a handgun from their bedroom and fired one round at Gary, striking him in the head, which caused his death," the release said.
Colbert called 911, the release said, to report that she had shot and killed her husband. As of Saturday afternoon, no charges had been filed against Kathleen Colbert.
Wilkinson said that trooper investigator Derek DeGraf would reinterview Colbert on Saturday, once she was no longer intoxicated, before discussing possible charges with prosecutors.
