WASILLA -- A man who was kicked out of a Saturday night party at a residence on Upland Drive was shot in the buttocks as he left.
Jeff Navarette, 24, of Anaheim, Calif., was shot by Jobie Karr, 40, of Wasilla, according to Alaska State Troopers.
Navarette was taken by LifeGuard Air Taxi to Providence Alaska Medical Center. He was reportedly in stable condition Sunday afternoon, but requested that no information be released after that.
Trooper spokesman Greg Wilkinson said the painful injury could have been much worse.
"He was shot in the right buttock and it came out his right hip and passed through his right hand," Wilkinson said.
No bones or arteries were hit.
Karr was lodged at Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail set at $27,500 cash-only. He faces charges of first-degree assault, two counts of fourth-degree misconduct involving a weapon, and reckless endangerment, troopers said in a news release.
Alcohol was involved in the incident, troopers said.
