Man steals safe stuffed with cash

PALMER — When police caught up to Craig Dunyon, here’s what they say he had in his possession:

• Heroin

• Cocaine

• A stolen safe with $12,000 inside

According to a trooper press statement, a home in the Bodenburg Loop area was reported burglarized at 7:48 a.m., Sunday.

Troopers say they tracked down the thief and it was Dunyon, 30, of Palmer. In addition to the cash the safe contained “several checks and a firearm.”

Dunyon was arrested and charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and drug misconduct.

He was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility with bail initially withheld. As of 2 p.m., Monday he was still lodged there.
