WASILLA — Police have identified the man hit and killed by a vehicle while crossing Parks Highway Friday night, Feb. 3.
According to Alaska State Trooper dispatch, 55-year old Wasilla resident Joseph Linkiewicz was struck by a northbound vehicle around 8:53 p.m. near mile 49 by a vehicle driven by a 44-year old Anchorage woman. Troopers stated Linkiewicz was crossing in an area without crosswalks or roadway lighting.
Linkiewicz was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver and occupants of the vehicle were wearing seatbelts and were not injured. The accident remains under investigation.
