WASILLA — Wasilla police say a drunk man wrapping a chain around a stranger’s truck in the Fred Meyer parking lot Sunday explained his actions by saying he wanted to go to jail.
According to a police department press release, officers were called to the parking lot at 3:08 a.m. Sunday for the report of a man in a truck ramming a parked car in the lot. Witnesses said he appeared to be trying to roll the car over.
When officers arrived, they found Dustin Daniels, 18, Wasilla, intoxicated and upset, wrapping a chain around the car’s passenger compartment, about to attach the other end to his truck.
“Daniels was apparently upset over a dispute with his girlfriend and stated he wanted to go to jail. Daniels did not know who owned the parked car,” police report.
Daniels got his wish and was booked into the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $2,000 bail, charged with DUI and third-degree criminal mischief.
