Man who died in accident near Talkeetna identified

The man who died in an accident near Talkeetna Nov. 17 has been identified as Richard Krause, 72, of Willow.

The Alaska State Troopers received a report of an accident at Mile 95 of the Parks Highway about 8 p.m. Nov 17.

“Investigation revealed a motorist operating a sedan had been traveling southbound on the Parks Highway in the wrong lane of travel,” troopers said in an online dispatch published Nov. 18.

The sedan struck a commercial tractor-trailer head-on, troopers said, and the driver of the scene was declared dead at the scene. Troopers also reported icy roads and heavy snowfall in the area. Troopers did not release the identity of the driver of the commercial truck.
