A man and a woman are dead following a motor vehicle accident along the Parks Highway Saturday afternoon.
The Alaska State Troopers responded to the area of Mile 61 of the Parks just after 2:30 p.m. Two vehicles were involved in the accident, according troopers. A small passenger car traveling northbound lost control due to icy road conditions, troopers said, and slid into the other lane. The driver of a truck traveling southbound was not able to stop or avoid the collision, troopers said. The two adult occupants of the passenger car were declared dead at the scene.
The identification of the man and the woman were not available as of Saturday evening.
