Man wounded in Big Lake shooting

BIG LAKE — Details of a shooting in Big Lake Thursday that sent one man to the hospital remain murky as Alaska State Troopers investigate.

According to a trooper press statement, at 8:41 p.m. dispatchers got word of a man walking down Susitna Parkway near Saquonee Street in a subdivision west of Big Lake.

“The man was pointing at people and it was believed that he had a gun. AST responded, and upon arrival, a 29-year-old male approached Troopers on scene and advised that he had shot the man that was in the road,” according to the press statement.

Troopers, probably because they have not decided whether to charge the man criminally, didn’t name the shooter. They also didn’t name the man who was shot, but said he is 33 years old.

The wounded man was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center.

“The investigation is ongoing at this time. The case will be referred to the Palmer District Attorney's Office for review of possible charges,” troopers said in their press release.
