“I think that it is always, and it is usually is my father. He was my mentor, he was kind of my inspiration to become a firefighter and I know he’s been gone now over 30 years. Still, every year, around this time especially you know? He was everything thought I’d want to be.”
Don Cuthbert
“I’ll be thinking of my brother. [Richard “Dick” Rice, Air Force veteran who passed away 2015]. He brought me here… I came to visit and then I stayed, like a lot of people. I miss him. I miss fighting with him. That’s what brothers and sisters do.”
Carol Rice
“My brother’s in the Army right now so yeah, I’ll be thinking about him, just making sure he’s safe and sound [Cleo Munoz]. I know he’s deploying soon.”
Marie Jordan
“Yes, my fellow combat brothers, the dudes that I served with in the jungles and rice patties. I think about them every day, all year long. It’s not just a Memorial Day thing.”
Ron Nicholson, U.S. Army F.O. Sergeant during the Vietnam War.
“My dad [Jerffrey Ryle], he served for 26 years as a Special Forces Combat Medic; him being gone and sacrificing everything.”
Sophia Ryle
