To the editor,
How ironic! An article in The Frontiersman (17 April) describes projected profits from marijuana production in Houston, while directly below it is another article of recovering drug addicts trying to warn students of the damage drugs can do in terms of addiction, brain damage and wrecked lives. (Thank, guys, for doing this!)
From years of study and research, I can guarantee that the amount received in revenue from marijuana production will ultimately be far outstripped by the long-term costs of mental health problems (which can include psychosis, depression, suicide, brain damage, drug addiction, drugged- driving accidents) and the ultimate cost of shattered lives and families.
How sad, to put monetary profit before the welfare of our kids, and ultimately, of our society.
