Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Former Anchorage resident Marilee Robertson, 42, died Oct. 2, 2003, at St. Mary's Medical Center in Saginaw, Mich.
Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. yesterday at Witzleben's Bragaw Chapel. A graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at Anchorage Memorial Park Cemetery.
A funeral was held Tuesday at Mowen Funeral Home-William A. Scarlett Memorial Chapel, in Owosso, Mich., with the Rev. Marion Ellis officiating.
Ms. Robertson was born Jan. 21, 1961, in Salt Lake City to Brenton and Patricia (Broxterman) Walker Sr.
She grew up in Anchorage and attended Dimond High School.
She married Richard Sparks in 1978 in Anchorage. He died in 1979.
Ms. Robertson left Alaska during the late 1980s.
She formerly worked as a secretary.
Ms. Robertson was a league pool player and talented crafter, her family wrote. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She devoted her life to her family and friends, loving them all deeply.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Rachelle and William Jehlen of Palmer, and Melanie Robertson of Owosso; granddaughter Celeste Jehlen; brothers and sisters-in-law, Brenton Walker Jr. of Salt Lake City, John Walker of Anchorage, Ronald Walker of Milwaukee, David and Terry Walker of Palmer, William and Donna Walker of Palmer, and James and Debbie Walker of Monroe, Utah; sister and brother-in-law Jennie and Wade Brow of McMillian, Mich.; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and -nephews; and former husband Stephen Robertson of Owosso.
Ms. Robertson was preceded in death by her mother Patricia Marteeny; grandmother Francis Iams; and brother Stephen Christiansen.
