Mark Sept. 11 attack with Saturday event

To the editor:

This Saturday we will acknowledge the ninth anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

In remembrance of those Americans who died in these attacks, Conservative Patriots Group is hosting a non-partisan, non-political remembrance rally with the theme “Standing Strong for America.” We invite the entire community to join together with us to respect and honor those American civilians, military, police and emergency responders who lost their lives as a result of this horrific and unprovoked terrorist attack.

Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright, U.S. Senate candidates Joe Miller and tentatively Scott McAdams will speak at this event on how the 9/11 tragedy has affected America and what we can do to prevent future attacks.

We, the people of Alaska, need to stand strong for America and never forget this unprovoked attack. We will be presenting what we believe to be a never-before-seen slide show of the 9/11 tragedy.

The event will be held at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center in Wasilla from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday.

All are invited. Bring your children. Cake and coffee will be served, and Conservative Patriots Group will be sponsoring a youth essay contest with the theme “How Has 9/11 Affected the United States of America.” Cash prizes will be awarded, and contest entry forms are available only at Saturday’s rally.

We look forward to seeing you there.
