Marsha S. Ramsey, 55, died Oct. 17, 2002, at the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle from complications of leukemia.

A remembrance of her life will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. today at Valley Funeral Home in Wasilla.

Ms. Ramsey was born Jan. 12, 1947, in Everett, Wash. She attended East Anchorage High School.

She became a resident of Alaska in 1953. She lived in Anchorage from 1953 until 1983. In 1983 she moved to Big Lake. For the past 15 years, she worked at Big Lake Food Mart and Steve's Food Boy.

Her family remembers, "Marsha found the place where she wanted to be when she made her final move to the Big Lake area in the mid-'80s. She enjoyed the people and being part of the Big Lake community. She liked to read and do jigsaw puzzles. One of our fondest memories of Marsha is watching her fish from the dock at her parent's home on Long Lake in Houston. She leaves her cherished dogs, Amy and Sugar, to her family. They were of great joy and comfort to her."

She is survived by her parents John and Nan Eder of Big Lake; sister and brother-in-law Judy and Bob Alward of Anchorage; brother Pat Eder of Big Lake; niece Becky Lewis; and great-nieces Sydney and Rylee Lewis of Anchorage.

Her ashes will be scattered at a later date.

Memorial donations may be sent to The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center Foundation, P.O. Box 19024, Seattle WA 98109-1024.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory in Wasilla.
