Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Palmer resident Mary Elizabeth Halpin, 51, died of heart failure on Aug. 18, 2001, at Providence Alaska Medical Center in Anchorage.
A memorial service was held on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Houston Bible Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Miller officiating.
Mrs. Halpin was born Nov. 5, 1949, in Farmington, Mass. She came to Alaska in 1959, and resided in Willow for a time. She married and moved to Washington state, then returned to Alaska after her husband's death. She was primarily a homemaker.
Her family said: "Mary was a kidney patient for 27 years. She helped many people."
She is survived by her father, Daniel Giordano; mother, Dora Giordano; eight brothers and sisters; several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Arrangements were made by Valley Funeral Home and Crematory of Wasilla.
