MARY KATHERYN MINDER

Memorial services for Palmer resident Mary Katheryn Minder, 71, will be on Saturday at 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 9475 E. Colony Schools Drive, Palmer. Pallbearers will be Patrick Minder, Sean Minder, Lehvi minder, Connor Minder, Terry Chowen and Rob Lechtenberger.

Mary died June 19, 2010, at her Palmer residence after a 13-year battle with metastatic breast Ccancer. She was born May 29, 1939, in Minneapolis, Minn., and came to Alaska in 1981. She was a homemaker and a real estate agent. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was an LDS seminary teacher. She also served on the Chugach Electric board.

Mary had a degree in home economics and enjoyed sewing. Anything and everything that had to do with creating something special and unique, she did. She also liked to teach the kids at Conga College.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike Minder, and her parents, Joseph and Charlotte Chowen.

She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-laws, Patrick and Katherine Minder and their children, Lehvi, Connor, Joseph and Bryce Minder, and Sean and Shannon Minder and their children, Liem, Seamus, Aislinn and Cait Minder; seven brothers, Lew Chowen, Mike Chowen, Danny Chowen, Mark Chowen, Matt Chowen, Joseph Chowen and Jack Chowen; and five sisters, Charlotte Matthews, Joan Downham, Caroline Bergman, Kathy Larsen and Terry Chowen.

The family has requested memorial bequests be directed to the family.
