Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Mary Lee (Jenkins) Gilmore passed away on Sept. 6, 2001 to be finally at rest with her Lord Jesus, after a long hard, courageous struggle with dementia -- the long good-bye.
Born March 20, 1927 in White Oak, Okla., to Pressley A. and Fleeta Mae (O'Dell) Jenkins, she lived in Tulsa and graduated from Will Rogers High School with the class of 1945. She was married Aug. 30, 1947, to Bob Gilmore. They worked and lived in Oklahoma City from 1952 until the present.
She is mainly remembered for her sense of humor, her hosting of parties and get-togethers, and her loving spirit.
Mrs. Gilmore is survived by her husband, Bob, of the home; daughter, Gayle Hensch and husband, Phil, of Perkins, Okla.; son, Bob Jr. and wife, Gina, of Palmer; four children, Daniel and Laura Hensch, Bette and Garrett Gilmore; two brothers, P.A. and wife, Nona Jenkins, and Doyle V. and wife, Midge Jenkins, of Tulsa; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services were made by Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper of Oklahoma City, and were held Monday, Sept. 10, at the Mayfair Heights United Methodist Church, 3131 N.W. 50th St., followed by a service in Tulsa at the Ninde Woodland Memorial Chapel, 5757 S. Memorial, with entombment at Memorial Park Cemetery Lakeside Garden Mausoleum.
