Mat-Su Borough COVID-19 case total reaches 19 Monday

State officials have announced a dozen new COVID-19 cases in Alaska since Friday, and a third of that total are cases in the Mat-Su Borough.

A new case was reported in Palmer on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. A Wasilla case was also reported on Saturday. There are now 19 total cases in the borough, 10 in Wasilla and nine in Palmer. Three are travel related, 11 are local cases and five are under investigation, according to state officials. Six of the borough’s 19 cases are considered recovered.

There are now 321 total reported cases, and 161 recovered cases. There have been 36 total hospitalizations and nine total deaths. During a press conference Monday, Gov. Mike Dunleavy said of the 36 total hospitalizations, only eight are currently in the hospital.

Dunleavy also reported the total number of tests in Alaska reached 10,124. As of Monday, 3.17 percent of the total tests in Alaska have come back positive.
